Palm of the Alligator, 36 x 48″, charcoal on paper, 2011

While visiting Everglades National Park, I came upon a sleeping alligator. It’s hand was palm side up and I became fascinated with it’s incredible complexity. Although the Alligator is a feared creature it’s hand spoke to me of it’s unique beauty and vulnerability.
